Becoming Catholic

Becoming Catholic

Have you ever wondered:  Is God calling you into a deeper relationship with Him?  Is there something missing in your life, in your family life?  Are you searching for something more in life; its meaning, its purpose?   Our Catholic faith community at Saint Agnes would welcome the opportunity to meet you and answer any questions you may have about our Catholic faith.  We would love to explore with you the truths of the Catholic faith and introduce you to the fellowship of our parish family through our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).  The RCIA sessions are free and imply no commitment on your part to join the Catholic Church.  RCIA process is available to people who are not baptized, as well as those who are baptized Christians from Protestant or Evangelical backgrounds, or baptized Catholics who have not received their First Communion or Confirmation.
If you would like to learn more about the RCIA process, please contact Paula Fritz, the RCIA coordinator, or one of our priests.  Our parish office number is 859-431-1802.  If it is more convenient for you to call in the evening or on the weekend, Paula’s cell phone number is 859-760-5174.   Feel free also to email her at [email protected].

From Our Pastor

From Our Pastor

Thank you for your interest in Saint Agnes Parish.  Whether you are just “checking us out” or searching for a place to worship, we hope you find this website helpful.  To give you an idea of what we are all about, I will sum up our parish mission:

  • To be a welcoming, loving community,
  • To strengthen faith in adults, youth, and children,
  • To promote the respect for all human life, and
  • To witness the love of Christ through service.

At the center of our parish life is the Sunday Eucharist, which is the opportunity to encounter the Lord in Word and Sacrament.  It is here where we see who we are and where we begin to be more like the Body of Christ.

If you do visit us at one of our Masses, I hope that you will feel the warmth of our welcome.  Also, please introduce yourself to one of our priests or deacons.  They would be happy to meet with you and assist you in any way they can.

Again, welcome and thank you for visiting us!

Sincerely,
Father Mark Keene, Pastor

  • REGARDING THE COVID19 VIRUS

    REGARDING THE COVID19 VIRUS

    March 19, 2020

    Dear Parishioners,
Beginning Friday, March 20, 2020, Saint Agnes will enact a number of practices to hopefully prevent and/or curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community.  These practices are in line with the practices mandated by our Bishop, who deeply shares our concerns about the spread of this very serious virus as well as our regrets about having to cancel so much of that which is at the heart of our faith as Catholics (Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Sunday and Weekday Masses, etc.) for the foreseeable future.

I encourage everyone to read the Diocesan instructions/protocols.  These were decided upon by Bishop Foys after much consultation, research and prayer.  You can find them on the homepage of our diocesan website: www.covdio.org or our parish website: www.saintagnes.com.

Until further notice, at Saint Agnes we are:
∙           Suspending all weekday and Sunday Masses beginning tomorrow, Friday, March 20.  The Masses we had today, March 19, (Feast of Saint Joseph) will be the last Masses we will have until further notice.

∙           The Stations of the Cross, the Deanery Penance Service and the Parish Penance Service are cancelled.

∙           Saturday morning prayer is cancelled.

∙           Regularly scheduled Confessions are cancelled.  If you need/want to go to Confession, please call the parish office (431.1802 ext. 344 for Father Keene, ext. 347 for Father Bertke) to make an appointment.

∙           The celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick that was scheduled for this Sunday, March 22 is cancelled, as are the celebrations of the Sacrament of the Sick that were held after the now cancelled 11:30 Mass.  If you need the Sacrament of the Sick, please call the parish office (859.431.1802 ext. 344 for Father Keene, ext. 347 for Father Bertke) to arrange a time.

∙           Funerals will be limited to 10 persons total.  If desired by family members, Memorial Masses can be arranged for deceased persons after the concerns about the virus are lifted.

∙           Our parish offices will be closed, however, personnel are working from home, checking messages, and email.

∙           All parish activities, such as the remaining Fish Fry and the Big Blue Bash (BBB) are cancelled or other arrangements are being made.  Information is being sent out about the BBB.

∙           All parish meetings and socials are cancelled.

∙           We plan to have Eucharistic Adoration available for one hour at 7 AM, Noon and 6 PM each day of the week.  This will be in the main church and will be limited to ten persons, all maintaining “social distancing.”  The church doors on the school side of the annex will be the only doors open.

∙           All previous diocesan and parish protocols regarding COVID-19 remain in place.

Please keep all of this in your prayers.  Take advantage of the many of the resources available on the internet.

Below are viewing times for the recorded weekly Mass from the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Sunday 5-6 PM:

                            Station MeTV WLWT

Antenna television, channel 5 or 2

                            Spectrum, channel 188 in Kentucky

Cincinnati Bell, channels 23 or 291

I believe there are several stations that broadcast the daily Mass.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this important.

    God bless you!

    In Christ,

    Father Mark Keene, Pastor

COVID-19 - Letter from Fr. Mark Keene/Resource Information

    March 25, 2020

    Dear Parishioners,

During these difficult and uncertain times, we join so many others in trying
to reach out to those who may need help providing for themselves, given all
the disruptions to our regular lives because of the COVID-19 virus.
Please check on your neighbors and fellow parishioners, especially the
elderly, to make sure they are safe, healthy, and having their daily needs
met. Some of their needs you may be able to accommodate from your own
resources. A simple phone call checking on someone may be greatly
    appreciated.

If someone needs more than you can provide, please print out a copy of
the attached list and refer them to it. This list is from Catholic Charities of
Northern Kentucky and lists resources that provide many various services
to anyone in need. We encourage you to take some time yourself to
become familiar with the agencies and resources available.

Also, our Parish Christian Service Committee and our Parish Saint Vincent
de Paul Society are available to help. They can be notified through our
parish office (859.431.1802, or [email protected]).

Hopefully we will soon be able to come together again as parish family to
celebrate Mass. Until then, please be assured of our prayers for all of you.

    Yours in Christ,
Father Mark Keene, Pastor and all of the Saint Agnes Parish Staff
